Clinical Background

I don’t approach emotional pain as merely theoretical. Over many years, I have come to know what it means to move from pain that once felt overwhelming toward a more grounded, ongoing joy in being alive. That lived understanding quietly informs how I hold the work with patients.

Many bright, creative, or accomplished people wonder why their hard work hasn't brought the sense of peace or joy they expected. People who appear successful on the outside can still struggle internally.

My Approach

Trained in relational psychoanalysis, my work is grounded in an egalitarian, contextualist perspective within a safe, relational framework. My clinical style incorporates creativity, play, and humor.

Collaborative

The work is tailored to individual needs. Some people thrive with more guidance, others from a supportive partnership. My stance is based on what serves you best.

Relational

In therapy, new experiences can replace old patterns. We explore what’s happening in your key relationships to help shift what feels stuck.

Practical

Theory informs the work, but outcomes matter more. My training integrates contemporary psychoanalytic thinking with practical application.

Human

When it fits, I bring humor. The work is meaningful and serious but it doesn't require us to be solemn. There’s also room for lightness, offering relief and helping us feel more human together.

Personal Context

Having worked through depression born of early emotional misattunement, I do not approach emotional pain as solely theoretical. I know what it means to move from pain that once felt overwhelming to a more grounded, ongoing joy in being alive. This experience quietly informs my presence with patients.

As an artist, one of my clinical interests is working with individuals whose psychological life is shaped by artistic, creative, or expressive pursuits.
